SPEECH SOUND ISSUES

As parents, you are often expert at interpreting what your child is saying from the moment their first word emerges.  By the time a child is two, even a stranger will usually understand about half of what the child says.  This intelligibility increases rapidly so that by the time a child is four, almost all of what they say is easy for a stranger to understand.

It is common to feel frustrated when your child has difficulty making themself understood, and your child may feel the same.  If you want to move on from being your child's translator, or you are at all concerned about the way your child sounds when they talk, let's have a chat.

I would not hesitate to recommend Christian to anyone who asks me for advice about speech therapy. Our 5 year old son Jack is now a confident and happy speaker. Family, friends and Playcentre have all been amazed by the progress he has made in the past 7 months. Prior to this, he barely spoke and was hesitant to engage knowing he wouldn’t be understood. He was largely unintelligible in conversation.

Christian built a rapport with Jack almost immediately. Our son was incredibly wary of speaking however Christian put him at ease and during the sessions worked with him building his confidence and working towards improving Jack’s speech. Christian’s treatment plan was tailored with Jack’s interests in mind and Christian was fantastic in helping me understand Jack’s needs, sharing techniques and tips to assist Jack with sounds and words. This meant we could be consistent at achieving goals in between appointments. I now have a little chatterbox who chats happily to his grandparents on the phone and shares his stories at morning news with his classmates.
